The Original Akashic Records Prayer, often called the Sacred Prayer, is one of the best-known opening prayers for the Akashic Records. What is the opening prayer for the Akashic Records?
The opening prayer for the Akashic Records is a prayer spoken before accessing the Records. Its purpose is to establish a respectful connection, ask permission to enter the Records, and set a clear intention before receiving guidance. The Original Akashic Records Prayer, often called the Sacred Prayer, is one of the best-known versions, although other opening methods, including the Pathway Prayer Process, are also used by some practitioners.
The Meaning of the Akashic Records Prayer
The Original Akashic Records Prayer begins by asking for protection, ensuring that only information shared through love and truth is received. It then asks permission to open the Akashic Records and receive only the guidance that is appropriate at that time. Rather than simply being a ritual, the prayer establishes a clear intention, a respectful connection, and a safe space before entering the Records.
The Original Akashic Records Prayer ( Sacred Prayer )
“I ask God to place His protective shield of love and truth around me permanently so that only the love and truth of God will exist between you and me.
I ask my Masters, Guides and Loved Ones to channel through me, from wherever they are, to say whatever they wish.
I ask the Guardians of the Akashic Records to allow me to open my Records and access any information that I am allowed.”
Repeat this prayer 2 more times silently, replacing the words ‘me’ or ‘my’ with your name
“I ask God to place His protective shield of love and truth around{ my name) permanently so that only the love and truth of God will exist between you and me.
I ask the Masters, Guides and Loved Ones of (my name) to channel through me, from wherever they are, to say whatever they wish.
I ask the Guardians of the Akashic Records to allow me to open the Records (of my name) and access any information that I am allowed.”
It is important to say the Sacred Prayer out loud one time and then repeat it twice more, silently replacing the word “me” or “my” with your legal name.
After you have done this repeat the phrase
“My Records are now open” 3 times.
Closing the Records after an Akashic Records reading
After you have received as much information or inspiration as you want then you should close the access to your Akashic Records with the following statement:
“I thank my Masters, Guides and Loved Ones for the information that they have given me today. I also thank the Guardians of the Akashic Records for allowing me to open my records and access the information for my highest good.
My Records are now closed (3 times).”
A Note About the Wording
There are several translations and variations of the Original Akashic Records Prayer. Some versions ask permission from the Guardians of the Akashic Records, while others use slightly different wording or omit that section altogether. Over the years, I have found that the version published here works consistently for me, and it is the prayer I continue to use before every reading. If you wish, you can also adapt words such as “His” when referring to God, provided you keep the intention and integrity of the prayer intact. In the original Mayan language there is no gender associated with the word “God”.

I ask Akasha, the source of creation and the original intelligence to envelope me in love, light, truth and pure consciousness.
So only love, light, and pure consciousness exist among us.
I ask Akasha, my Highest Self, the Source of Creation, the Original Intelligence and the pure consciousness to express themselves through me from the Pure Light in the Origin to show me everything that is relevant.
I ask them to open the Akashic Register of (my full name).

In my experience, sometimes something happens and sometimes nothing happens at all.
The prayer itself is not a magic formula. It is more like opening a door and creating the intention to connect. Learning to recognise and trust the information that comes through is a skill that develops over time.
Many people who say the prayer for the first time feel absolutely nothing, and there is nothing wrong with that. Others may notice subtle impressions, emotions or insights.
Like meditation, learning to work with the Akashic Records often requires patience, practice and trust rather than dramatic experiences.
Why Doesn’t the Prayer Work for Me?
Many people become discouraged when they don’t receive immediate results. That was my experience too.
For many years I would occasionally say the prayer and hope for something profound to happen. Sometimes I felt something and sometimes I didn’t. Looking back, I now realise that I lacked both confidence and trust in the process.
Everything changed after I received an attunement and proper training. Gradually, what had once seemed uncertain became clearer and easier to trust. Today, I pass that same attunement on to my own students.
Everyone’s path is different. Some people experience immediate results while others find that patience, practice and guidance allow things to unfold naturally.
Can I Create My Own Akashic Records Prayer?
Yes. Many people choose to use a traditional prayer because it has been used and refined over many years. Others prefer to create a prayer that feels more personal and meaningful to them.
In my experience, intention is more important than the exact words. The prayer itself is simply a way of opening with respect and creating a sacred space for guidance.
Does the Exact Wording of the Prayer Matter?
Not really. There are several versions of the Akashic Records Prayer in use today. Some practitioners prefer a specific wording, while others adapt it according to their beliefs.
I believe sincerity and intention are far more important than saying every word perfectly. The prayer is a doorway rather than a magic formula.
Can I say the Prayer Silently?
Yes. Some people prefer to say the prayer aloud, while others read it quietly or mentally. There is no right or wrong way. What matters most is approaching the process with openness and respect.
Can You Read Your Own Akashic Records?
Absolutely. In fact, the first level of training is all about learning how to access your own Akashic Records. The challenge is not so much opening the Records, but learning to trust what you receive.
Almost every beginner asks the same question:
“Is this real, or am I just imagining it?”
This is where the real work begins. I have worked with the Akashic Records for many years and have learned to trust the process, but that trust came through experience and practice rather than overnight.
What Are the Limitations of Reading for Yourself?
The difficulty is that we already know ourselves so well. When we access our own Records, much of the information we receive can feel familiar. When we begin asking deeper questions about things we do not consciously understand, doubts naturally arise.

So yes, I absolutely believe you can read your own Akashic Records. However, there are times when the guidance and experience of another person can bring valuable clarity.
What Questions Do People Usually Bring To A Reading?
Every reading is unique, but many people come with questions relating to relationships, life purpose, career and family matters.
I often work with clients who have repeating patterns in their lives that they are not fully aware of. Once these patterns are identified, they can begin to make new choices and create healthier ways of living.
Many people are curious about past lives. While I can access this area of the Records, I always explain that I do not receive exact names or dates. Instead, I am usually shown situations, themes and experiences. Sometimes those same patterns are still being acted out in this life.
The purpose is not simply to satisfy curiosity. It is about recognising patterns that no longer serve us and bringing awareness to opportunities for healing and change.
How Often Should I Open My Akashic Records?
There are no strict rules. Some people work with the Records daily, while others only access them occasionally when seeking guidance. Quality is often more important than frequency.
Can Someone Else Access My Akashic Records Without Permission?
No. In my experience, permission and intention are important. It would be very unethical to try and open another person’s Records without their knowledge and consent. Other rules that should be followed at all times You should never say the prayers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The prayers are sacred and should be treated as such. Never ask to open th eRecords of anybody under 18 years of age.
Do I Need Attunement To Access the Akashic Records?
Not necessarily. Some people receive insights without formal training. However, many people find that attunement, practice and guidance help them develop confidence and trust in the process.
